We each create a painted expression of what we feel and how we respond to others.

SECOND DAY: ALCHEMY FOR OUR TIME
Using our personal collage, we begin to build the myth of our culture, looking for threads of meaning in the outer world that reflect and fulfill our inner stories.
We encounter the power of Alchemy, through the contention of opposites, the source of all growth.
Together we begin to construct a painted dialog of expressions, bringing the personal to the collective.

THIRD DAY: OUR WIDER CALL, and CLOSING THE TEMENOS
Using a large painting we work to illuminate the social myth we’re called to address.
We open ourselves to the world; and we open the world to our creative vision with the Rising Feminine.
We close the Temenos, finishing our intimate exploration, but not our work in the world.

Following the official closing those who must can leave, but others may wish to stay for a discussion of what we have experienced over the weekend.
Optional tours (Sometime…TBA):
Coeleen Kiebert home / studio tour
A UNIQUE VISIT WITH A REMARKABLE & CREATIVE WOMAN
Coeleen Kiebert purchased a home overlooking the beach in Aptos, CA., in 1970. Ever since then she’s worked nearly daily on her art and teaching local artists ceramic art techniques, painting and collage. Her studio/home is a pilgrimage site, like a museum, festooned with countless artworks by herself and other notable artists.
We will tour Coeleen’s space and relax on her deck to discuss the studio and its art and reflect on the unfolding of Confluence 23. Open to all participants and family.
Visit the Mary Holmes Chapel
Mary Holmes
Mary Holmes built a sunny studio on her mountain-top property in Santa Cruz where she could paint in her time off from lecturing in the Art History department at UCSC. She continued to create work long after her retirement. The studio remains there today, along with a chapel and stables, filled with her paintings and treasures.
In 1993, at the age of 83, Holmes designed a chapel to house a collection of her favorite paintings. The design was executed by Larry Makjavich and filled with Mary’s artwork.
